5 Fantasy players to watch out for

We are already passed through the 1st part of the season, ups and downs on the league table as slowed down, teams will try to reinforce (so as the FPL managers) themselves in January to move upwards in the league table. After the end of FPL 2021/22 Gameweek 26, there has been a lot of share of points with the premium assets delivering huge points. Apart from the popular picks, there are quite a number of players, who have impressed over the weekend with points and underlying stats. The onset of good fixtures along with their form can really turn them into good replacements for the underperforming assets of the fantasy team. All the managers are trying to stabilize their teams with suitable options before the price hikes. In this FPL Gameweek 26 Watchlist 2021/22, we will be looking at 5 Fantasy players, who could become future transfer targets, carrying their good run.

FPL Gameweek 26 Watchlist 2021/22

The focus this week is primarily on teams enjoying a double gameweek along with keeping a note of blank gameweek 27. Bringing Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold will of course be the priority this week but here are some other targets under consideration for double gameweek 26 and beyond.

1. Kieran Tierney (Defender) – 5.1 million

Ahead of home fixtures against Brentford and Wolves in double gameweek, Kieran Tierney has kept 6 clean sheets in his last eight appearances. With 1 goal and 3 assists in the same period, the left-back has amassed a team-leading total of 64 FPL points or 8.3 points per 90 minutes on average.

Only Laporte and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been more productive amongst defenders in that time from gameweek 15 onwards. In the same period, just four defenders have taken more than his 7 shots from open play and only Laporte, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cancelo, and Van Dijk have landed more than his 4 shots on target.

Amongst teammates, only Bukayo Saka and Martinelli have attempted more than his 25 crosses. Arsenal has conceded just five goals in that time and only Wolves in Manchester City have allowed fewer on average. Their 0.85 expected goals conceded figure can only be bettered by the league leaders.

2. Conor Coady (Defender) – 4.7 million

Coady has amassed an expected FPL points of 4.16 per 90 mins whilst enjoying non-penalty expected goals plus assists figure of 0.05 (npxG+A) per 90. He makes 0.59 touches in the box per 90 mins, creating 0.14 big chances per game. It might sound astonishing but Coady’s offensive numbers are really decent for a center-back. He comes at very very good value and can be your set and forget option from gameweek 28 onwards.

Coady comes in as a handy option ahead of Max Kilman and Rayan Ait Nouri as neither are nailed on their positions with Marçal and Jonny coming back from injury. Although Kilman comes in as a slightly cheaper alternative, Coady has been a starter all season. Additionally, he edges Romain Saïss being a lot cheaper.

Wolves in particular have been fantastic defensively. They are currently the fifth-best defense in the Premier League this season for expected goals conceded. Although their double gameweek 26 might not be the best defensively with Leicester City and Arsenal they are not the worst to target at. But Wolves defense become attractive assets as they don’t blank on gameweek 27 and have favorable fixtures post that with Crystal Palace, Everton, and Leeds.

3. Maxwel Cornet (Midfielder) – 5.9 Million

Since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, Maxwel Cornet has gone three games without a return. He’s been shifted out wide to accommodate the blossoming partnership between Wout Weghorst and Jay Rodriguez. But no teammate has landed as many as his 3 shots on target in that time and his total of 8 touches in the opposition penalty box only trails Weghorst.

The Ivory Coast international has 6 goals in 13 appearances since his arrival in gameweek 5, averaging 5.94 points per 90 minutes. His most productive period came just before the AFCON where he netted four times in five matches between gameweeks 9 and14. Goals are often hard to come by for Burnley but they have back-to-back double game weeks.

Their upcoming opponents Tottenham Spurs and Leicester City rank amongst the bottom 5 teams for goals conceded per game in the last 5 game weeks and Crystal Palace rank joins 16th for expected goals conceded per game in the same period.

4. Bukayo Saka (Midfielder) – 6.4 Million

Bukayo Saka has amassed an expected FPL points of 4.77 per 90 mins whilst producing a massive non-penalty expected goals plus assists figure of 0.44 (npxG+A) per 90. His expected figures is very very decent given his price range. He makes 6.23 touches in the box per 90 mins which is one of the best in the league. But note that his big chances arre reasonable and not that high with 0.27 per game.

Remember, Saka does blank in gameweek 27 so you either need to bench him or use your Free Hit for that week. So if you have already set your mind to hit the Free Hit button on 27, then there shouldn’t be a second thought on going for Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal‘s double in gameweek 26 is very very attractive with hosting both Brentford and Wolves at home. From gameweek 28 onwards, there are fixture swings for few teams with the likes of Manchester United and West Ham take for a difficult turn. On the other hand Arsenal, Chelsea, and Wolves experience a positive turnaround in fixtures. Arsenal face Watford, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace from gameweek 28 onwards.

5. Armando Broja (Forward) – 5.3 Million

Whilst all the focus has been on double gameweek players, Armando Broja has quietly impressed with 4 goals in his last 10 appearances. No forward has earned more than his 47 FPL points since gameweek 15 which equates to an average of 5.7 per 90 minutes.

Only Saint-Maximin and Harry Kane have landed more than his 10 shots on target in that time, and he trails just four forwards João Pedro, Édouard, Ronaldo, and Kane for shots in the box, his 2.76 expected goals figure ranks fifth meanwhile.

Southampton have scored an average of 1.83 goals per game in the last six gameweeks which ranks joint second with Manchester City only trailing West Ham though seven teams have fashioned more big chances per game in that time They’ve now got six very favorable fixtures to come which include home ties with Everton, Norwich City, and Watford.
